Went Shopping

Yesterday Frank & I went to St. George to get our car serviced.  After the car was done my mouth was watering for Red Lobster.  I was starving and could hardly wait to eat.  My trout dinner was delicious as usual.

We decided to go to Costco and get a few things we needed there.  As we were shopping all we could say was "Oh my gosh look how much that costs now!"  Talk about sticker price shock.  I didn't buy a lot of things that I wanted as I just couldn't imagine paying the price.  Guess I will have to get over that as everything has gone up in price.  We looked at the price of cars at the dealership where we got the car serviced, and once again sticker price shock.  People are making less, and things are costing more.  Not a good thing.  Diesel just went up five cents.  When is it going to stop.

We are supposed to get a Social Security raise, and it won't even cover the cost of our Medicare Health Insurance going up in price, let alone the $40 more a month on our supplement insurance.  Guess I am in the sticker price shock mode.  All I can say is this economy sucks.

Today is Zachary's 19th birthday.  Happy Birthday Zach and I heard you were going on a mission.  Just want you to know that I am really proud of you, and good luck on your mission.

Something I Need - From a Facebook Post

This is so very true and something I need to remember.  I think in my 70 almost 71 years everything in the above has come true in my life.

UPDATE - GRANDPARENTS DAY

Frank & I went over to Mesquite to see Robyn last Tuesday and get some essential oils from her. We had a wonderful time visiting and I got to play with Brax before he went down for his nap. We sat on her patio and Frank went for a walk on the golf course path. I remembered that I wanted to look on Robyn's facebood to see if Jakell had the baby. When Robyn went in on Jakell's page, much to our surprise Jakell had unfriended Robyn. Jakell was the one to friend Robyn. We were puzzled about it, but I am pretty sure I know what happened.

You know who you are and I am thinking you have been reading my blog and wanted to make sure that I didn't get to see any information or picture of the new baby girl, my great granddaughter. You know, I was thinking about making my blog private, but I am not going to do that as I have nothing to hide. I guess I will never know what I have done that is so bad especially to people who don't even know me and have judged me harshly. I will never say anything on this blog to hurt anyone. I love my family unconditionally and I will just say one thing. Unless you walk in my shoes, please don't judge me. I have been hurt enough, and remember there is always two sides to a story.

GRANDPARENTS DAY
Frank & I were elated to be asked by Wendy to take Allie and Kody to grandparents day.  Wendy is our special neighbor who has moved.  She brought the kids to our home around 8 AM Thursday morning.  We took them up to the fair grounds to the Fine Arts building as the Bowler School is being remodeled.  I couldn't believe all the people who were there and was thinking that the school lunch room would never hold this many people.  They were serving breakfast and it was awful.  There was some kind of egg casserole and I thought I would eat that over the muffins.  I did take a muffin and after tasting the egg dish, I ate the muffin.  Not a good choice for a diabetic.  I told the kids we should have gone to McDonald's and had breakfast there and then come back for the book fair. Kody told me the egg thing tasted weird.  So I wasn't the only one who didn't like it. Allie took one look at it and didn't want any. It was great to see friends that I hadn't seen in a long time.

Allie and Kody are such well mannered kids, thanks to their parents.  I had to talk them in to letting us buy a book for them.  It goes to a good cause and I wanted the kids to get a new book like all the other kids.  We went outside and had our picture taken.  I hope it was a good picture as I am not very photogenic. We will miss our neighbors a lot. It is so quite when I go outside with them gone.  No more hearing the noise of happy kids playing next door, a quick conversation over the fence, or the good deeds like having our garbage can brought up to our house.  Any way we had a lot of fun with the kids, and if we do it next year for Allie, we will be going to McDonald's for breakfast. This was Kody's last year for grandparents day, he will be going to middle school next year.  So hard to believe how fast they grow up.

Hey thanks Bret, Laura, and Sierra for coming over to visit today after church.  I was glad I had enough spaghetti to feed you.  It was great sitting around the dining room table and catching up on things, and having our religious chat.  Sierra, it was great to see you too as it has been quite a while.  I know you are one busy girl with the upcoming play.  I can't wait to see it next month.  We need to do it again.

Mom & Daughter Road Trip

Sherry and I loaded up my car and headed to St. George last Saturday.  We went to see our cousin Lorri for a couple of days.  We got there around 2 PM Utah time. I had to have Sherry stop in Mesquite so I could get a quick drive thorough meal. It was getting way past my lunch time and I wanted to have some energy to do the fun things that Lorri had planned for us. Lorri had made a crock pot of chili and the aroma of chili filled the air when we entered her home.

Sherry and Lorri ate a bowl of chili, and then we all got in Lorri's car and headed out on our adventure.  First stop was Tuachan where a craft sales thing was just closing up as the wind was blowing and caused an early closing of the booths.  Sherry had never been to Tuachan so we showed her the stage where some fantastic plays have been performed.  Lorri's son goes to school at Tuachan and he was up in Cedar City with his class.  They were in a Shakespearean competition, and they won I think, for the 9th year in a row.  We checked out the souvenir store and decided things were a bit pricey.

We then headed on up the road to Kyenta where another event was taking place.  They have some art stores, a coffee shop, and there was a band playing out on the patio.  When the band started playing, I said "look at those old farts playing. They look as old as me."  Actually they were really good, and there was a younger girl singing with them, she had a beautiful voice.  They were a country western band.  One of the old guys came over to where Sherry was sitting and played his electric guitar to her.  We had a lot of fun strolling through all the art shops looking at the crafts on display and for sale.  Once again sticker price shock.  Sherry did buy a feather for her hair, and Lorri found some eye glass holders that were really cute.  I found a unique bracelet made out of silverware that I would have bought, but since this month was full of bills like car tags, property taxes etc, I didn't feel like I could splurge.

Then we headed back to St. George to their new Town Center and walked around. Lorri had a hand in the development of it, as she was the head of the Chamber a few years back.  They keep adding things and had just put in a Merry Go Round. Lorri was our guide and explained all the buildings, etc. which made it nice.

We went across the street where there were old restored homes that you can rent, kind of like a bed and breakfast.  There was a young couple just leaving one of them and Lorri asked if we could take a quick peek inside of it.  It was really nice, and would be like staying in your own little home.  Lorri drove around some other areas and told us that the Brigham Young home had just been remodeled.  Sherry was shocked at how much St. George had changed, and was picking out landmarks that weren't there any more like our old dentist office.  We headed back to Lorri's and once again she fed us.  She weighed on us hand and foot, and it kind of made me feel guilty, but I really enjoyed being pampered.

The next day was Sunday and we were tired from staying up late talking and laughing.  Lorri fed us breakfast, and we all showered and headed out to the new air port.  We were able to go inside and tour the building.  It is really nice and was worthwhile seeing.  I had been curious about it ever since I heard they had opened it. Once again, Lorri had a hand in the planning of the airport, and was able to give us the inside story of how it came about.  It was like having our own personal tour guide.

That evening Lorri had our young cousins Gina and Gaven over for a vegetable lasagna dinner, and we visited with them until they got tired and went home.  Then Gina's Mom, Lisa, dropped by after work and we visited with her.  All in all it was a really fun weekend. We got to see things we wouldn't ordinarily see as when we go to St. George it is to go to the doctors, or to shop. I really missed Frank and felt like something was missing the whole time I was there.  Frank was happy to see me when I got home as he missed me too and I was happy to be home and crawl into my comfy bed that night.

Yea!! Rozlynn Back in Daycare

In my last blog I told about Rozlynn being kicked out of daycare.  Renee called me a couple of days ago to give me the good news that Mrs. Bird had talked to the mother of the child that Rozlynn bit and they decided that Rozlynn could stay.  Renee was just getting ready to get Rozlynn's records and enroll her in the new daycare she had found.  It was a huge relief for Renee and me too as Rozlynn loves her daycare.  I think that Mrs. Bird went to bat for Roz as she is one of her favorites.  I think that Mrs. bird will keep a close eye on Roz and nip the biting in the bud.  Renee told me Roz has come home with bite marks, so she isn't the only child that is doing it.  Hopefully, Mrs. Bird will be able to get it all under control.

Today is my granddaughter Makenzey's 17th birthday and I probably wouldn't even recognize her as I haven't seen her for a long time.  She is the daughter of my son who is estranged from our family.  I hear she has really changed and has blossomed into a beautiful young woman.  I have been waiting to hear of the birth of another great grand baby, I think a girl.  Riley's (Makenzey's brother) wife is expecting any minute or maybe has already had the baby.  I have to wait to find out from family that has Jakell as a friend on Facebook.  Hopefully, I will get to see a picture of the baby too.  This kind of stuff makes me sick to my stomach.  How did it get so bad, too much water under the bridge I suppose.  I may try and friend Jakell and see what happens.  The 27th of September was Riley's 21st birthday.  Happy Birthday to both Riley and Makenzey.
